To celebrate WAS50, The Lamp is briefly rearing its head above ground before blinking in the light and diving away into obscurity. False Memory is being actually allowed out as a digital release but only until the meagre ration of cassettes have sold. Once that happens, the digital version will be made private so all who own will still have it but to the public front it does not exist.
Side A is a weird hypnotic ritual of time stretched Arizona field recordings, time stretched beyond recognition so the hoot of the quail sounds like some 80s industrial synth. Making this one even more unique is the vocals, starting out an asthmatic chant and then going full blown number station.
Side B is slowmo folk horror synth weirdness with multiple overlapping restretches of a classic theme.

The first album by The Lamp was a limited edition of less than 15 and in accordance with tthe artist's wishes, all masters were permanently deleted. For the follow up album, a download has been permitted but it will only be available while the tape is on sale. Once the tape has sold out, the album will be hidden. It will still be available to re-download for those who bought it, but it will no longer be on sale.
The first album was simply a DJ set that got out of hand and accidentally became something else, but this is the first deliberate album. Side one a strange, scratchy ritual with weird rumbles and mumbles. Side two a stretched out synth symphony. Both tracks apparently have concepts behind them but the artist declines to share them.
Artwork for the tape uses deliberately small fonts and contains The Lamp manifesto.
Radiophonic Workshop classics....jazz/electronics mash-up for tough guy thriller "Vendetta" which is right up with any classic 60s soundtrack. ESSENTIAL! Was Ist Das?
As the font suggests, this is kind of all balls-out rock-hard album but in a deliriously scuzzed out, off-kilter way. One audience member sounds furious at the end, accusing them of trying to get a reaction - fucking hippy should be grateful for experiencing this up close! Was Ist Das?
